The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons that support student progression and achievement.
  • Set high expectations for student behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including ICT, to keep students motivated and engaged.
  • Assess student work effectively and provide constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Develop and update schemes of work across all Key Stages to ensure a high-quality curriculum.
  • Prepare and present reports to parents in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Implement and maintain Individual Education Plans for students with special educational needs.
  • Evaluate and improve teaching practices through self-reflection and professional development.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, progress evenings, and faculty improvement initiatives.
  • Fulfill the responsibilities of a form tutor, supporting student well-being and development.
  • Contribute to wider curricular activities and school events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant experience in English education.
  • Strong knowledge of the English curriculum and statutory assessment requirements.
  • Ability to plan and deliver effective lessons that promote student progress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equality in education.

Preferred

  • Experience with teaching students across a range of abilities.
  • Familiarity with Special Educational Needs and the Code of Practice.
  • Experience in developing and evaluating schemes of work.
  • Background in form tutoring or pastoral care.
  • Experience with using ICT in the classroom.
