The Opportunity:

As a Graduate Organist, you will play a key role in supporting the school’s music program, particularly the new chorister initiative. This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate organist to gain experience in both church music and education, while contributing to a vibrant and dynamic school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of the school’s Singing Strategy and chorister program.
  • Lead and accompany rehearsals, and provide small-group and 1:1 vocal coaching.
  • Assist the Director of Music with administrative and musical tasks for liturgical and concert performances.
  • Play for services, including choral evensong, and may lead year group singing.
  • Accompany pupils in concerts, assemblies, and graded music examinations.
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead lessons at various key stages.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular music performances and recitals.
  • Communicate effectively with students across a range of age groups.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Hold a relevant degree or music qualification; ARCO level is the minimum standard required.
  • Demonstrate strong keyboard and accompaniment skills, including sight reading to a good standard.
  • Have experience in music as an organist and in choral music, either as a singer or director.
  • Show experience or interest in working with young people and pursuing a career in music education.
  • Be empathetic and able to recognize the needs of children in a boarding environment.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be able to support students pastorally and model appropriate behaviors.
  • Be willing to contribute to extra-curricular music performances and recitals.
  • Be adaptable and flexible in approach to work.
  • Undergo a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
  • Understand the school’s child protection and safeguarding requirements.

Preferred

  • Have personal experience of a boarding or residential environment.
  • Demonstrate an affinity with the school’s Church of England traditions.
