The Opportunity:

A school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of Food and Nutrition to join a dynamic and supportive department. This role offers the opportunity to inspire students through engaging lessons, co-curricular activities, and innovative teaching methods. Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition and the Leiths CTH Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery.
  • Contribute to departmental enrichment activities, including co-curricular clubs and events for all year groups.
  • Deliver high-quality lessons that promote equal opportunities, inclusivity, and student engagement.
  • Utilize IT tools such as Teams and OneNote to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
  • Support students in developing practical cooking skills, food safety knowledge, and nutritional awareness.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching practices and departmental outcomes.
  • Maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in Continuing Professional Development and INSET sessions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A good honours degree in a related subject and a postgraduate certificate in education (QTS).
  • Willingness to engage with Continuing Professional Development and INSET.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate students.
  • Proficient in the use of IT, including Teams and OneNote.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with staff, students, and parents.

Preferred

  • Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language.
  • Previous experience in a school setting, particularly in food and nutrition.
  • Knowledge of industry links and career pathways in the food sector.
