The Opportunity:

A Groundsperson is needed to maintain the school’s sports pitches, playing surfaces, and wider grounds. This role ensures that facilities are presented to a high standard for the school’s busy sporting programme and events throughout the year. The successful candidate will support the maintenance of natural turf and all-weather surfaces, as well as assist with sports fixtures and school events.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain natural turf pitches and all-weather surfaces
• Carry out line marking and operate grounds maintenance machinery
• Maintain landscaped areas across the estate
• Support the set-up and breakdown of sports fixtures and school events
• Ensure all grounds and facilities are presented to a high standard
• Work as part of the Grounds Team to deliver a consistent and professional service
• Undertake seasonal overtime and flexible working hours as required
• Follow health and safety protocols when using machinery and equipment

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

• Practical experience in grounds maintenance or sports turf
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance machinery
• Enthusiasm and willingness to learn and develop skills
• Commitment to maintaining high standards in all work
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required
• Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team

Preferred

• Previous experience in a similar role within a school or sports environment
• Knowledge of turf care and maintenance techniques
• Experience with line marking and ground preparation
• Understanding of the importance of maintaining sports facilities for events and fixtures
