The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of A Level English to lead and teach within a successful and supportive department. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the teaching and development of A-level English (Language, Literature, and Language & Literature).
  • Deliver high-quality lessons in A-level English Language and support teaching in another key stage.
  • Work closely with the Head of Department to ensure the continued success of the English team.
  • Monitor and support student progress, providing targeted interventions where necessary.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Contribute to the wider curriculum and school initiatives.
  • Support the pastoral and spiritual development of students in line with the school’s values.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, staff training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in A-level English teaching.
  • Proven leadership experience within a department or subject team.
  • Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
  • Experience in delivering high-quality teaching and learning at A-level.
  • Commitment to student progress and attainment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or subject team.
  • Familiarity with Church of England values and ethos.
  • Experience in pastoral care and spiritual development.
  • Experience in a large, successful school environment.
  • Strong track record in improving student outcomes and attainment.
