The Opportunity:

As the Head of Boarding, you will lead and develop the school’s boarding provision in central London. This is a senior leadership role that requires strategic and operational oversight of Premier House, a modern boarding residence for around 100 students. You will ensure a warm, purposeful, and enriching boarding experience while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the boarding staff team, ensuring effective pastoral care and student support.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with the school’s values and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with parents, agents, and students to ensure a supportive and inclusive boarding environment.
  • Ensure Premier House operates as a safe, well-run home for students, with a focus on welfare and belonging.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to shape the overall student experience and boarding culture.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operational management of Premier House, including facilities and student accommodation.
  • Provide strategic leadership in shaping a boarding model that balances structure with warmth and high expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding standards and regulatory requirements during all operational periods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior boarding or pastoral leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to lead and develop a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, compliance, and student welfare practices.
  • Experience in managing a residential environment with a focus on student care and wellbeing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, urban environment with a high level of autonomy and initiative.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an international school setting.
  • Familiarity with UK boarding regulations and best practices.
  • Experience with boarding provision for students aged 15+.
  • Knowledge of student support systems and pastoral care frameworks.
  • Experience in managing a boarding residence with shared kitchen facilities and en-suite rooms.
