The Opportunity:

As the Head of Chemistry, you will lead the delivery of high-quality science education across multiple academic pathways, inspiring students to excel academically and develop a passion for the subject. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Chemistry department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across Key Stage 3, I/GCSE, A Level, and IB programmes.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that align with the school’s mission and educational philosophy.
  • Supervise and mentor Chemistry teachers, providing professional development and support to enhance pedagogical practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular learning and real-world applications of science.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of Chemistry curricula, ensuring alignment with national and international standards.
  • Engage actively in extra-curricular activities, including science clubs, competitions, and community outreach.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents, students, and colleagues to support student achievement and well-being.
  • Stay updated with global educational trends and technological advancements to enhance teaching and learning experiences.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Minimum of a B.Ed. or a B.A. with a PGCE in Chemistry, along with QTS.
  • Proven experience in teaching Chemistry at Key Stage 3, I/GCSE, A Level, and/or IB.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in departmental leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Commitment to Positive Education (PosEd) principles and student-centered learning.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with international curricula such as the IB, A Levels, and I/GCSE.
  • Familiarity with technology-enhanced learning and innovative teaching tools.
  • Experience in developing and delivering extra-curricular science programmes.
  • Background in school leadership or senior teaching roles.
