The Opportunity:

As the Head of Design Technology, you will lead the development and delivery of a dynamic and innovative curriculum in Resistant Materials and Engineering. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new department within a forward-thinking institution that values creativity, critical thinking, and real-world application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a high-quality Design Technology curriculum aligned with IB and UK National Curriculum standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Design Technology teachers, providing professional development and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate Design Technology into broader learning experiences.
  • Manage the planning, delivery, and assessment of lessons for Grades 6–12.
  • Promote student engagement, creativity, and technical skills through project-based learning.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports all students.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted feedback and support.
  • Stay current with industry trends and innovations in Design Technology and Engineering education.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design Technology, Resistant Materials, and Engineering.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery at secondary level.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to the IB learner profile and international education standards.

Preferred

  • Experience teaching the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or equivalent.
  • Background in leading a new or expanding department.
  • Experience with cross-curricular collaboration and project-based learning.
  • Familiarity with UK National Curriculum standards.
  • Passion for innovation and technology in education.
