Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the English department, ensuring alignment with the school’s educational goals and curriculum standards.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  • Support and mentor English teachers, providing professional development and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a cohesive and enriched learning experience for students.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of the English curriculum across all key stages.
  • Promote a strong and inclusive school community through extracurricular activities and events.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support to improve outcomes.
  • Stay up to date with educational trends and best practices in English teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a strong background in English education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, preferably as a department head.
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum for England and its implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience with the use of technology in teaching and learning, including AR and AI tools.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education practices and support for diverse learners.
  • Experience in leading curriculum development and innovation initiatives.
  • Background in leadership within a large, multi-academy trust or international school environment.
