Head of Geography needed to lead a high-performing department at a school committed to excellence and UAE values.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Geography to lead and inspire a high-performing Humanities department. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development, drive student achievement, and foster a culture of innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Geography department, ensuring alignment with whole-school goals and the National Curriculum for England.
  • Model outstanding teaching and learning practices, setting high expectations for pedagogy and student outcomes.
  • Oversee curriculum development, assessment policies, and data analysis to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support and mentor teachers through coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and reflective team environment within the department.
  • Use assessment data to identify areas for improvement and support personalised learning.
  • Promote a love of Geography through enrichment activities, competitions, and co-curricular initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and leadership to ensure strong progress tracking and reporting.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities or a closely related field, plus a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
  • In-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum for England and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of data analysis, curriculum planning, and assessment for learning.

Preferred

  • Experience in an international or British curriculum school.
  • Leadership experience within a department or key stage.
  • Proven track record of raising standards and achieving excellent student outcomes.
