The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE and Sports Faculty, you will lead and inspire a dynamic department, driving excellence in physical education, sports, and games across all key stages. This role is pivotal in shaping a culture of active learning, student engagement, and holistic development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PE, Sports & Games faculty, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all phases.
- Deliver outstanding practical and theoretical lessons in PE, maintaining an active teaching commitment.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the PE and Sports programme, enhancing student participation and achievement.
- Mentor and support a team of PE and Sports staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Drive an inclusive and comprehensive extra-curricular sports programme, including competitive fixtures and inter-school events.
- Promote a culture of physical activity, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyles among students.
- Use data and assessment to monitor performance, improve student progress, and enhance outcomes in PE.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate innovative approaches, including technology and AI, into PE and sports.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through involvement in extra-curricular and community initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Minimum B.Ed. or bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or a related field.
- PGCE (or equivalent) and QTS.
- Proven experience in teaching PE, Sports & Games with evidence of strong student outcomes.
- Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with an active teaching timetable.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to the school’s core values and a growth mindset.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a faculty or department.
- Background in innovative teaching methods and the use of technology in PE.
- Experience with extra-curricular sports programmes and inter-school events.
- Familiarity with international curricula such as the IB, GCSE, or IGCSE.
