The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Head of Geography to lead and inspire a dynamic department within a school that values professional growth and academic excellence. This role offers the chance to shape curriculum development and drive student success in Geography.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that reflects the school’s values and educational goals.
  • Support and mentor Geography staff to enhance teaching standards and student outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate Geography into cross-curricular initiatives.
  • Promote extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities in Geography.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and the wider school community.
  • Ensure the department adheres to all school policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school setting, ideally as a Head of Department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Geography, including experience delivering A-Level qualifications.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of teachers effectively.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and research-based practice.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school with a focus on Sport and Business Enterprise.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and curriculum development.
  • Experience in leading departmental initiatives that support student achievement and engagement.
