Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the History department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Develop and implement a cohesive curriculum that aligns with the school’s mission and vision.
- Support and mentor department staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support to enhance learning outcomes.
- Engage with the wider school community, including parents and students, to promote the importance of History education.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate cross-curricular themes and enhance student engagement.
- Stay up to date with developments in the subject area and incorporate innovative teaching methods.
- Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular and community engagement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant degree and postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PGDE or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching History at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 or equivalent.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in departmental leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Commitment to the school’s values of integrity, aspiration, and inclusivity.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
- Familiarity with international curricula such as IGCSE, GCSE, IB, or A’ Level.
- Experience with blended learning and the integration of technology in teaching.
- A track record of contributing to school-wide initiatives and extra-curricular activities.
