Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the History department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive curriculum that aligns with the school’s mission and vision.
  • Support and mentor department staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Engage with the wider school community, including parents and students, to promote the importance of History education.

  • Stay up to date with developments in the subject area and incorporate innovative teaching methods.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant degree and postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, PGDE or equivalent).
  • Proven experience teaching History at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 or equivalent.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with experience in departmental leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the school’s values of integrity, aspiration, and inclusivity.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with international curricula such as IGCSE, GCSE, IB, or A’ Level.
  • Experience with blended learning and the integration of technology in teaching.
  • A track record of contributing to school-wide initiatives and extra-curricular activities.
