Head of Junior Years sought to lead academic and pastoral development for P7, S1, and S2 pupils.

The Opportunity:
As the Head of Junior Years, you will lead a dynamic team and shape the academic, pastoral, and personal development of around 250 students. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives and to contribute to a forward-thinking, values-driven institution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the academic and pastoral wellbeing of P7, S1, and S2 pupils.
- Oversee transitions, wellbeing, behaviour, and engagement across the year groups.
- Work closely with the Deputy Rector (Student Life) and the wider Pastoral Team.
- Ensure the highest standards of care, scholarship, and character education.
- Support the smooth daily running of the Junior Years, including discipline and pastoral care.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Junior and Senior Schools to enhance student outcomes.
- Promote a culture of academic excellence and personal development.
- Develop and implement strategies for student engagement and progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a teacher and pastoral leader.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support student wellbeing and academic success.
- Experience working with students aged 11–14 years.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a senior leadership role within education.
- Familiarity with Scottish education systems and curricula.
- Knowledge of pastoral care and behaviour management strategies.
- Experience with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
- Ability to contribute to school-wide initiatives and development plans.
