The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Mathematics department, including curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Support and develop teaching staff through mentorship, training, and professional development.
  • Oversee the delivery of A Level and Further Mathematics courses to high-achieving students.
  • Promote a culture of excellence, innovation, and inclusion within the department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement curriculum reform initiatives.
  • Ensure the department meets academic targets and supports student progression to top universities.
  • Manage and develop enrichment opportunities, including extracurricular mathematics activities.
  • Work closely with the Second and Third in the Department to share line management responsibilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and A Level curriculum.
  • Experience in managing a department of teachers and leading academic strategy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity.

Preferred

  • Experience in curriculum reform or innovative teaching methods.
  • Background in further education or higher education.
  • Familiarity with teaching Further Mathematics at A Level.
  • Experience in leading or supporting student enrichment programs.
