The Opportunity:

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Head of Maths Department to lead a team of passionate educators. This role offers the chance to shape the future of mathematics education and make a real impact on student outcomes. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving academic success and supporting student progression to top universities and apprenticeships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of maths teachers, providing guidance and support to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Deliver high-quality A Level Mathematics lessons to a range of students, including those in Further Maths, Core Maths, and GCSE resit groups.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement, retention, and progression to university.
  • Coordinate and oversee enrichment activities, including UKMT competitions and HE admissions examinations.
  • Collaborate with the wider leadership team to ensure alignment with the school's academic and strategic goals.
  • Promote a culture of continuous professional development and subject-specific CPD for staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, ensuring consistent standards and outcomes.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching and leading a maths department at A Level and GCSE.
  • Strong academic background in mathematics and relevant qualifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Experience in driving student achievement and progression to university and apprenticeships.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in delivering Further Maths and Core Maths.
  • Familiarity with enrichment opportunities and HE admissions examinations.
  • Experience in leading departmental CPD and professional development.
  • Background in sixth form or post-16 education.
