Head of MFL (0.8 days per week) – lead and develop the Modern Foreign Languages department.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of MFL to lead and develop the Modern Foreign Languages department. This role involves coordinating language teaching across Key Stage 3 and 4, with a focus on French and Spanish. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the language curriculum and inspiring students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the Modern Foreign Languages department across Key Stage 3 and 4.
- Deliver high-quality French and Spanish teaching at GCSE level.
- Develop and implement a curriculum that promotes language learning and cultural awareness.
- Support and mentor other language teachers within the school.
- Monitor and assess student progress to ensure consistent academic achievement.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate language learning across the curriculum.
- Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement.
- Stay up to date with developments in language teaching and pedagogy.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with a subject specialism in French and Spanish.
- Proven experience teaching French at GCSE level.
- Strong leadership and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development and departmental leadership.
- Familiarity with teaching Spanish in a senior school setting.
- Experience with bilingual or multilingual education.
- Strong knowledge of modern language teaching methodologies.
