The Opportunity:

We are seeking an Assistant SENDCo to join a dynamic and growing school in Wolverhampton. This role is central to promoting an inclusive approach to special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to thrive. The Assistant SENDCo will play a key role in the development and delivery of SEND strategies across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the SENDCo in promoting an inclusive approach to SEND across the school
  • Coordinating and contributing to the Annual Review process for EHCPs, ensuring compliance and quality
  • Developing and maintaining robust systems for identifying, monitoring, and reviewing student need
  • Liaising with Local Authority EHCP coordinators, external professionals, and families
  • Supporting staff to implement effective recording, reporting, and intervention systems linked to EHCP outcomes
  • Contributing to communication with parents, including progress updates and review meetings
  • Supporting the SENCo in delivering training and disseminating good practice in SEND
  • Assisting with transition arrangements and integration for new pupils

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • English and Maths to Level 2 or above
  • Relevant and recent knowledge and experience of working with pupils with SEN
  • Sound working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures
  • Understanding or had experience of EHCP and the review process at school or Local Authority level

Preferred

  • Teaching qualification preferable but not essential
