The Opportunity:

As a Forest School Teacher, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality outdoor education and supporting students with ASC/SEMH needs. This is a chance to be part of a new and growing school, where your passion and expertise can shape the future of education for young people.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and management of Forest School activities to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement a whole-school approach to Forest School, enhancing student engagement and achievement.
  • Set and monitor targets for pupil progress and achievement, ensuring quality teaching standards.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to support student needs and deliver a personalised curriculum.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress using data to identify and support underachieving students.
  • Maintain strong, nurturing relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development.
  • Adapt curriculum content to meet the specific needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Ensure the safe and effective delivery of Forest School sessions, including the use of appropriate First Aid and risk management strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification with evidence of in-service training.
  • Forest School qualification and relevant First Aid certification.
  • Experience teaching students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of curriculum requirements and the ability to adapt them for students with SEND.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong, trusting relationships with students.

Preferred

  • Experience working with students with anxiety and complex needs.
  • Experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and delivering student-centered learning approaches.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes through innovative teaching strategies.
