Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Music Department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative music lessons to students at all levels.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum aligned with academic and vocational pathways.
  • Organise and oversee performances, showcases, and collaborative events that reflect professional standards.
  • Support the delivery of peripatetic music lessons and mentor students in a wide range of instruments.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and creativity within the department.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the school to enhance student outcomes and engagement.
  • Promote the school's music programme both internally and externally.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with relevant music education experience.
  • Proven leadership experience in a music department or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, performance, and pedagogy.
  • Ability to deliver both academic and vocational music courses.
  • Experience in planning and managing large-scale performances and events.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in working within a federation or multi-academy trust.
  • Familiarity with the Mossbourne Federation values and ethos.
  • Experience with peripatetic music teaching and tutor coordination.
  • Strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for developing students' musical talents and confidence.
