The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of RE to lead and inspire the department in delivering a first-class provision. This role presents an opportunity to shape the future of religious education, raising aspirations and promoting excellence among students and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the RE department, ensuring a high-quality, engaging curriculum.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in RE.
  • Support and mentor RE staff, providing professional development and guidance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate RE into the broader school ethos and values.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning in RE.
  • Promote the importance of RE in developing students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural understanding.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and safeguarding procedures.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s vision and mission.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Religious Education.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team of teachers.
  • Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school undergoing transformation or merger.
  • Familiarity with multi-academy trust structures.
  • Experience in safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
