The Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head of RE to lead and inspire the department in delivering a first-class provision. This role presents an opportunity to shape the future of religious education, raising aspirations and promoting excellence among students and staff alike.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the RE department, ensuring a high-quality, engaging curriculum.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve student achievement and engagement in RE.
- Support and mentor RE staff, providing professional development and guidance.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate RE into the broader school ethos and values.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning in RE.
- Promote the importance of RE in developing students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural understanding.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Work closely with senior leadership to align departmental goals with the school’s vision and mission.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in leading a department.
- Strong subject knowledge in Religious Education.
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team of teachers.
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a school undergoing transformation or merger.
- Familiarity with multi-academy trust structures.
- Experience in safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
- Knowledge of Ofsted standards and school improvement processes.
