The Opportunity:

As the Head of PE and Games, you will lead and inspire the delivery of physical education and sporting activities across the Junior School. This role is pivotal in shaping a vibrant and active culture that promotes health, teamwork, and lifelong participation in sport.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the PE and Games curriculum for students aged 3–11.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Sport to ensure a cohesive approach to sport across the school.
  • Manage and motivate a team of PE staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Implement strategies to increase student engagement in physical education and extracurricular sports.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PE programmes and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies, health and safety standards, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and students to promote the importance of physical activity and well-being.
  • Utilise IT tools for administration, data management, and reporting.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A relevant teaching qualification and experience in education.
  • Proven experience teaching children aged 3–11.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and inspire a team.
  • Experience in using IT for administrative tasks and data handling.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Knowledge of sports development and curriculum design.
  • Experience in working within a co-educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the Duke of Edinburgh Award or similar programmes.
  • Experience in promoting inclusivity and diversity in sport.
