The Opportunity:
As the Head of PE and Games, you will lead and inspire the delivery of physical education and sporting activities across the Junior School. This role is pivotal in shaping a vibrant and active culture that promotes health, teamwork, and lifelong participation in sport.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the PE and Games curriculum for students aged 3–11.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Sport to ensure a cohesive approach to sport across the school.
- Manage and motivate a team of PE staff, providing guidance and support.
- Implement strategies to increase student engagement in physical education and extracurricular sports.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PE programmes and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, health and safety standards, and safeguarding procedures.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and students to promote the importance of physical activity and well-being.
- Utilise IT tools for administration, data management, and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A relevant teaching qualification and experience in education.
- Proven experience teaching children aged 3–11.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and inspire a team.
- Experience in using IT for administrative tasks and data handling.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
Preferred
- Experience in leading a department or team.
- Knowledge of sports development and curriculum design.
- Experience in working within a co-educational setting.
- Familiarity with the Duke of Edinburgh Award or similar programmes.
- Experience in promoting inclusivity and diversity in sport.
