Job Description

Summary:

Head of PE sought to lead and develop PE programs for Key Stages 3–5.

The Opportunity:

The Head of PE will lead and develop a dynamic PE department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning for all students across Key Stages 3–5. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic professional to make a real impact on student engagement and attainment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the PE curriculum to ensure it meets the needs of all students.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3–5.
  • Support and motivate staff and students to achieve their full potential.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress and attainment in PE.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote a whole-school approach to physical education and health.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students during PE lessons and activities.
  • Manage and develop the PE department’s resources and facilities.
  • Promote extracurricular sporting activities and events.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in teaching PE at Key Stages 3–5.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a department.
  • Strong classroom management and teaching skills.
  • High expectations of student engagement, attainment, and behaviour.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Preferred

  • Experience in developing and implementing PE curricula.
  • Leadership experience in a school setting.
  • Experience with pastoral responsibilities and student welfare.
  • Familiarity with Catholic education values and ethos.
