The Opportunity:

The Head of Philanthropy will lead a major gift function that drives transformational philanthropy, supporting bursaries, educational opportunities, and strategic priorities. This role will shape a multi-year programme that deepens engagement across the school community and delivers long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a multi-year major gift fundraising strategy.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team focused on securing transformational philanthropy.
  • Deepen relationships with current and past parents, Old Bryanstonians, and key stakeholders.
  • Translate affinity and engagement into sustained financial support.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align philanthropy with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Deliver high-impact fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Monitor and report on progress against fundraising targets and KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with all safeguarding and legal requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven leadership experience in major gift fundraising or philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated success in securing significant donations and building donor relationships.
  • Strong strategic planning and programme development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Experience in the education sector or non-profit environment.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or independent education setting.
  • Knowledge of UK fundraising regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
  • Strong understanding of donor engagement and retention strategies.
  • Experience in developing and delivering fundraising campaigns.
