The Opportunity:

As the Head of Science KS3, you will lead and deliver an engaging, ambitious curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students and developing the scientists of the future. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on student outcomes and strengthen Science provision across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver a high-quality, engaging Science curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student outcomes in Combined Science at GCSE.
  • Support and mentor Science staff to foster a collaborative and well-resourced faculty.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of Science teaching and learning across the school.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to align Science provision with the school’s strategic goals.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in Science education.
  • Engage with students and parents to communicate the importance of Science and its role in future careers.
  • Contribute to the development of extra-curricular Science activities and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Science education.
  • Proven leadership experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and 4 Science curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.

Preferred

  • Experience in driving curriculum development and improvement.
  • Track record of improving student outcomes in Science.
  • Familiarity with assessment and data analysis in Science education.
  • Experience in leading professional development for Science staff.
  • Passion for inspiring students and fostering a love of Science.
