The Opportunity:
As the Head of Science Teacher, you will lead and inspire students in Science, Environmental Systems, and Societies, playing a key role in shaping the curriculum and fostering a culture of inquiry and learning. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact within a dynamic and international educational community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver Science, Environmental Systems, and Societies across the senior school curriculum.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement concept-based units of inquiry aligned with IB standards.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students at all ability levels.
- Promote international-mindedness and service learning through meaningful, real-world connections.
- Support the development of a constructivist learning environment that fosters student autonomy and engagement.
- Maintain high standards of organization and contribute to the overall academic and community development of the school.
- Teach additional related subjects as required, based on departmental needs and personal expertise.
- Model and promote a positive, approachable, and collaborative school culture.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching Science, Environmental Systems, and Societies in the IB MYP and DP, with IGCSE experience being an asset.
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and curriculum framework.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field with a valid teaching qualification.
- Demonstrated international teaching experience.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience teaching additional related subjects such as Integrated Science, Foundation Biology, or Chemistry.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational research.
- Ability to inspire, challenge, and empower students through innovative and engaging teaching practices.
- Creativity, compassion, and a passion for making a meaningful difference in student learning.
