The Opportunity:
As the Head of English Teacher, you will lead the English department and play a key role in shaping a dynamic and impactful learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the English department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Design and implement concept-based units of inquiry aligned with the IB MYP, DP, and IGCSE curricula.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop authentic assessment tasks and support student learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students across all ability levels.
- Foster a constructivist approach to learning that promotes student autonomy and engagement.
- Promote international-mindedness and service learning through curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Support the professional development of the English team and contribute to the wider school community.
- Teach English and potentially other related subjects as required.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience teaching English across the senior school, with IB MYP and DP experience.
- Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and curriculum framework.
- A bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field with a valid teaching qualification.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with a positive and approachable attitude.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Preferred
- Experience with IGCSE or other international curricula.
- Experience teaching additional subjects such as EAL, TOK, or Humanities.
- Familiarity with constructivist and inquiry-based teaching approaches.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with educational research.
