The Opportunity:

The Head of Section Years 3 and 4 plays a key role in delivering high-quality pastoral care and contributing to the school’s strategic development. This senior position offers the chance to make a real impact on student well-being and school growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the pastoral care of Years 3 and 4 students.
  • Identify and address pupil concerns within the section.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of the school’s strategic plan.
  • Work closely with the Year 3 Class Teacher and other staff members.
  • Support the academic and personal development of students.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings and school events.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and welfare.
  • Collaborate with parents and external agencies as needed.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role within a school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of pastoral care and student welfare.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to contribute to strategic planning and development.
  • Experience working with children aged 7–9 years.

Preferred

  • Experience in a preparatory or independent school environment.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and extra-curricular activities.
  • Leadership experience in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Understanding of child psychology and development.
