The Opportunity:

As the Head of Year, you will lead and support students to achieve their full potential, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment. This role is central to promoting student success, behaviour, and well-being within a year group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate a team of Year Tutors to support student progress and development
  • Promote positive behaviour, attendance, and punctuality among students
  • Coordinate a case load of students who require additional support to make progress
  • Monitor and intervene in student performance through effective target setting and discipline
  • Develop strong partnerships with teachers, parents, and external agencies
  • Ensure consistent standards of behaviour, uniform, and attendance across the year group
  • Implement strategies to improve student outcomes and engagement
  • Support the inclusion team in delivering targeted interventions and support

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above
  • Proven ability to motivate and support students
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Commitment to raising student achievement and behaviour standards

Preferred

  • Experience in working with vulnerable students
  • Background in inclusion or pastoral support
  • Experience in a high-achieving school environment
  • Knowledge of educational best practices and student interventions
