The Opportunity:

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning support and mentoring to Teaching Assistants. This role is essential in ensuring students receive the care and education they need to thrive. The position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students in a range of learning environments, including formal, informal, and new situations.
  • Provide care and assistance with personal and intimate care, in line with health and education guidelines.
  • Monitor and promote positive relationships between staff and students.
  • Mentor and coach Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Workers.
  • Assess TA practice to help achieve NVQ 3 qualifications.
  • Supervise class groups in the absence of a teacher, with support from senior staff.
  • Assist in preparing resources, organizing the learning environment, and delivering learning activities.
  • Support the delivery of the curriculum across a range of subjects and situations.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to student reports and evaluations.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience working with young people with autism and complex needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in providing care and support for students with personal and intimate care needs.
  • Understanding of the national curriculum and differentiated teaching strategies.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.

Preferred

  • Experience in mentoring or coaching Teaching Assistants.
  • Previous experience in assessing TA performance and supporting NVQ 3 qualifications.
  • Familiarity with specialist therapeutic interventions such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or behavioural therapy.
  • Experience with information and communication technology in the classroom.
  • Background in education or related fields.
