The Opportunity:
As SENCo, you will lead the development of inclusive education and support for pupils with learning needs. This is a strategic and impactful role that combines leadership with hands-on teaching and pupil support, ensuring all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the school’s provision for pupils with learning needs.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support student success.
- Implement and monitor strategies that promote inclusion and accessibility for all learners.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices in special educational needs support.
- Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
- Champion the school’s inclusive ethos and ensure it is embedded in all aspects of provision.
- Support the development of individual education plans and review progress regularly.
- Promote a culture of understanding and empathy across the school community.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
- Proven leadership experience in a SENCo role or similar position.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
- Understanding of inclusive education and the needs of students with learning differences.
Preferred
- Experience in a co-educational setting.
- Familiarity with the UK education system and relevant legislation.
- Experience in developing and managing SEN policies and procedures.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
