The Opportunity:

As SENCo, you will lead the development of inclusive education and support for pupils with learning needs. This is a strategic and impactful role that combines leadership with hands-on teaching and pupil support, ensuring all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the school’s provision for pupils with learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support student success.
  • Implement and monitor strategies that promote inclusion and accessibility for all learners.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on best practices in special educational needs support.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports on student progress and interventions.
  • Champion the school’s inclusive ethos and ensure it is embedded in all aspects of provision.
  • Support the development of individual education plans and review progress regularly.
  • Promote a culture of understanding and empathy across the school community.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs.
  • Proven leadership experience in a SENCo role or similar position.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Understanding of inclusive education and the needs of students with learning differences.

Preferred

  • Experience in a co-educational setting.
  • Familiarity with the UK education system and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in developing and managing SEN policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
