The Opportunity:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality History lessons that inspire and engage students.
  • Plan and develop a broad and balanced curriculum aligned with school values.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support school-wide initiatives.
  • Promote the Catholic ethos and values within the school community.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities and school events as appropriate.
  • Support the personal and academic development of students through pastoral care and guidance.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience in teaching History at the secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge in History.
  • Ability to speak fluent English (written and spoken).
  • Commitment to the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
  • Full, unreserved support for the aims and ethos of the school.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Catholic school or faith-based educational setting.
  • Experience with curriculum development and innovation in teaching.
  • Experience with safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Familiarity with the British values and their integration into the curriculum.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual salary: MPS/UPS
  • Full-time position with consideration for 0.8 FTE
  • Fixed-term position (maternity cover) until 18/12/2026
