Summary:

Inclusion Support Mentor needed at a school in Surrey. Support students with complex needs and train staff in positive behaviour strategies.

The Opportunity:

As an Inclusion Support Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students and staff with behaviour management and Positive Behaviour Support strategies. This is an impactful role that helps create a safe, inclusive learning environment and offers opportunities for professional growth and training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with complex needs and challenging behaviour using Positive Behaviour Support strategies
  • Train and mentor staff in behaviour management techniques, including Team Teach
  • Collaborate with class teams to provide additional support and promote positive student outcomes
  • Assist with student assessments and support during transition processes
  • Analyse behaviour data to identify trends and improve best practices
  • Develop and implement Behaviour Support Plans and Risk Assessments
  • Work closely with therapy teams and CAMHS professionals to support students
  • Provide guidance and supervision on managing challenging behaviour
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision to enhance professional skills

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, or willingness to work towards this
  • Commitment to completing Team Teach and Safeguarding training
  • Strong physical, mental, and emotional resilience
  • Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment
  • Experience working with students with complex needs, including autism

Preferred

  • Previous experience in SEN Inclusion Support or as a TA, STA or HLTA
  • Experience with behaviour management and Positive Behaviour Support strategies
  • Experience in pastoral care and working with young people and staff
  • Confidence in presenting, coaching, and leadership
  • Experience in creating and implementing Behaviour Support Plans
