The Opportunity:

We are seeking an English Teacher to join a dynamic and supportive department committed to academic excellence and student wellbeing. This role offers the chance to shape young minds and contribute to a vibrant educational community that values innovation, safeguarding, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach English to students across a range of key stages, tailoring lessons to meet individual learning needs.
  • Plan, set, and mark regular written and oral work, ensuring alignment with departmental standards and school policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attainment, working closely with the Head of Department to support learning outcomes.
  • Participate actively in departmental meetings, exam preparation, moderation, and assessment processes.
  • Contribute to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that enhance the school’s academic and cultural life.
  • Attend all required school events, including staff meetings, parents’ evenings, and prep duties.
  • Uphold and promote the school’s values, policies, and safeguarding procedures, including adherence to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with a relevant degree and QTS.
  • Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding procedures and KCSIE guidelines.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading or contributing to departmental initiatives.
  • Familiarity with co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Experience with internal and external professional development opportunities.
  • Ability to take on additional responsibilities, such as teaching a second subject.
