Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality curriculum music lessons across KS2 and Secondary
- Provide instrumental tuition in your primary instrument or multiple instruments
- Embed oracy, musical dialogue, and reflective talk into lessons
- Plan progressive schemes of work aligned with the National Curriculum
- Support pupils in becoming expressive performers and independent musicians
- Contribute to concerts, productions, and whole-school music events
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance whole-school music development
- Use technology to support music learning, performance, and composition
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – PGCE, BEd or equivalent
- UK bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related discipline
- Recent teaching experience in a UK or BSO-accredited school
- Proficiency in delivering the National Curriculum for Music
- Ability to teach an instrument confidently (e.g., piano, voice, strings, woodwind, brass, guitar or percussion)
- Strong classroom management and high expectations for pupil behaviour
- Strong digital literacy (Google Workspace, shared drives, notation/recording software desirable)
Preferred
- Experience with Teaching English as a Second Language
- Experience with Philosophy for Children (P4C) or similar dialogic teaching approaches
- Experience in developing and leading whole-school music initiatives
- Experience with inclusive oracy practices and structured talk routines
