The Opportunity:

A Laboratory Technician is needed to support the science curriculum by managing practical resources and ensuring a safe, well-organised laboratory environment. This role plays a vital part in helping students gain hands-on experience and develop a passion for science.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the use of practical resources and laboratory facilities
  • Prepare equipment, chemicals, and materials for science lessons
  • Ensure a safe and health-compliant working environment in the laboratory
  • Assist science teachers in meeting the practical needs of the curriculum
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all laboratory activities
  • Provide guidance and support to students and staff on laboratory procedures
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying and developing opportunities within the science department
  • Work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Knowledge and/or experience of practical science and laboratory safety
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills
  • Proficiency in using ICT systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to creating a positive and supportive learning environment

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a laboratory or science-related environment
  • Experience in a school or educational setting
  • Familiarity with science curriculum requirements
