Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Biology department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Deliver outstanding Biology lessons and support the teaching of Science in KS3.
  • Develop and implement departmental strategies to improve student outcomes and engagement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum design and teacher training.
  • Support and contribute to a wide range of extra-curricular science activities.
  • Work closely with a dedicated technician to ensure the department is well-resourced and up to date.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress to ensure consistent academic success.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in Biology and Science education.
  • Proven ability to lead a department and deliver high-quality teaching.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology and Science.
  • Experience in teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
  • Commitment to student achievement and professional development.

Preferred

  • Experience in leading a department or team.
  • Familiarity with innovative teaching methods and curriculum development.
  • Experience with extra-curricular science activities.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
