The Opportunity:
As a Lead Science Teacher, you will lead and inspire a team of Science educators, driving excellence in teaching and learning. You will play a pivotal role in raising standards, mentoring colleagues, and delivering impactful lessons that improve student outcomes across the department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and collaborative planning.
- Model outstanding teaching practice and contribute to curriculum development.
- Deliver high-quality Science lessons that ensure strong student outcomes.
- Support the development of assessment strategies and professional learning opportunities.
- Work closely with department leaders to enhance teaching and learning across the school.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and evidence-informed practice.
- Share expertise and contribute to the ongoing development of the Science department.
- Engage in curriculum planning and resource sharing with academic teams.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Proven experience as a high-performing Science teacher with a track record of strong student outcomes.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to support colleagues.
- Commitment to evidence-informed teaching and continuous professional development.
- Ability to raise the quality of teaching and learning across a department.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Experience in curriculum development or assessment design.
- Background in coaching or leading professional development sessions.
- Experience with Rosenshine’s Principles of Instruction or similar teaching frameworks.
- Passion for promoting Science education and student engagement.
- Experience in working within a multi-academy trust or similar educational network.
