The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with individual learning needs and helping them achieve their full potential. This is a key position in ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual attention, reassurance, and support to students based on their Individual Education Plans and as directed by the SENCOs
  • Assist students during class and social times, and act as an escort when required
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, working independently, and achieving their learning targets
  • Ensure teachers are informed about the specific learning needs of identified students
  • Deliver one-to-one support and provide guidance on behaviour within the school’s policies
  • Identify and mitigate risks to health, safety, and security in the working environment
  • Support students who require intimate care, including toileting assistance
  • Prepare and assist with learning materials and resources as directed by the teacher

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in providing support to students with diverse learning needs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support a wide range of student needs

Preferred

  • Experience in working with students with special educational needs
  • Familiarity with Individual Education Plans and inclusive teaching strategies
  • Experience in behaviour management and supporting positive student behaviour
  • Knowledge of metacognitive teaching strategies
