The Opportunity:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN/ASD Teacher within an Additionally Resourced Provision to support students with social communication difficulties. This role is vital in creating a stimulating and inclusive learning environment for students aged 11–18.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, autism-friendly teaching and learning across the curriculum.
  • Support students with social communication difficulties, including those with autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
  • Collaborate with mainstream teachers to ensure seamless integration of students into the wider school community.
  • Develop individualised learning plans and track student progress effectively.
  • Promote social skills, communication, and self-advocacy through engaging and interactive teaching methods.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of extra-curricular and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and report on student progress regularly.
  • Work closely with parents and external agencies to support student development.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified teacher with experience in special educational needs, particularly in autism and Asperger’s syndrome.
  • Strong knowledge of autism-friendly teaching strategies and inclusive education practices.
  • Experience working within an Additionally Resourced Provision or similar setting.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Enhanced DBS (with list checks) certificate.

Preferred

  • Experience with the National Curriculum and preparing students for Entry Level and Level 1 qualifications.
  • Experience in teaching within a mainstream school environment.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and communication tools.
  • Experience in planning and delivering extra-curricular activities.
