The Opportunity:

As the Head of Learning, you will play a pivotal role in nurturing independent study skills and academic success among Sixth Form students. This is a dynamic and impactful position that shapes student growth and supports a culture of excellence and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the Sixth Form Study Room, creating a calm and purposeful learning environment
  • Promote and develop students’ independent study skills and habits
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, and use of study time effectively
  • Provide visible, approachable support and guidance to students
  • Uphold high standards of behaviour, dress code, and Sixth Form expectations
  • Maintain resources, displays, and an organised learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with Sixth Form Leaders and staff regarding student concerns
  • Provide cover supervision across a range of subjects when required

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Proven experience in supporting student achievement and wellbeing
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive, resilient, and able to work independently
  • High expectations of behaviour and engagement
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students

Preferred

  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role within education
  • Background in developing independent learning strategies
  • Experience with pastoral support and student engagement
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
