About the School:

A school dedicated to supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and complex learning needs, providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment for pupils aged 7-19.

The Opportunity:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students to thrive academically and emotionally. You will work closely with teachers to deliver individualised support and help students reach their full potential in a positive and structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students, tailoring assistance to meet individual learning and emotional needs
  • Support students across a broad and balanced curriculum, including preparation of learning resources
  • Assist in the development and delivery of individual education and behaviour programmes
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to deliver dynamic and structured classroom activities
  • Promote students’ emotional and social development through consistent and positive engagement
  • Record and report student progress in line with agreed procedures
  • Occasionally accompany students on educational visits or transport them home
  • Support the organisation and management of classroom materials and learning environments

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • GCSE Grade C / Level 4 or above in Maths and English
  • Previous experience working in a school or with children and young people
  • Experience supporting students with additional needs, particularly in a 1:1 setting
  • A compassionate, calm, and patient approach to behaviour support
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • A proactive, hands-on attitude with flexibility to assist with transport if required
  • Full driving licence

Preferred

  • Experience in a special needs or SEMH setting
  • Experience with behaviour management strategies
  • Knowledge of therapeutic approaches or educational frameworks for SEMH students
  • Experience with recording and reporting student progress
