The Opportunity:

As a Maths Teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping an engaging and accessible curriculum for students with a range of needs. You will work in a small, supportive team and be a key adult in students’ lives, making a meaningful impact through relationship-led learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Maths across secondary year groups, delivering inspiring lessons that engage students with diverse learning needs
  • Design and deliver an ambitious Maths curriculum using White Rose Maths, in collaboration with senior leadership
  • Organise students into learning groups based on individual needs and abilities
  • Deliver the whole school personal development programme as part of a small tutor group
  • Apply the Thrive approach and trauma-informed PACE model to manage behaviour with empathy and structure
  • Track student progress and use assessment data to shape future learning
  • Plan and lead enrichment activities that build confidence and skills beyond the classroom
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and supportive learning environment

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in a specialist subject
  • Strong knowledge of the Maths curriculum and confidence teaching at secondary level
  • Ability to adapt curriculum for students with learning difficulties, autism and SEMH needs
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques for students with complex needs
  • Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and experience with Individual Education Plans
  • Strong planning and assessment skills, with the ability to personalise learning
  • Understanding of safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and equal opportunities
  • Relevant teaching experience, ideally with students with SEN
  • Excellent communication skills with students, families and colleagues
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to lead a curriculum area in a small school setting
  • Resilience, emotional intelligence and a passion for working with vulnerable young people

Preferred

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or equivalent training
  • Experience working in a SEN school or alternative provision setting
  • Knowledge of White Rose Maths
  • Understanding of therapeutic frameworks such as Thrive and trauma-informed approaches
  • Experience leading a curriculum area or subject coordination
  • Specialist SEN qualifications or training
