The Opportunity:
As a Music Department Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Music Department’s Co-Curricular activities, including acting as principal accompanist and rehearsal pianist. This position also offers opportunities for academic and administrative involvement, as well as ensemble coaching. The role is ideal for someone passionate about music education and committed to student development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Co-Curricular music activities, including acting as principal accompanist and rehearsal pianist.
- Assist with academic and administrative tasks within the Music Department.
- Collaborate with the Director of Music to tailor responsibilities based on individual interests and experience.
- Coach ensembles and support students in developing their musical skills.
- Contribute to the school’s commitment to the welfare and education of students.
- Participate in evening concerts, choir rehearsals, and other school events as required.
- Maintain a professional and supportive attitude in line with school policies and expectations.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- A graduate-level qualification in music or a related field.
- Strong musical ability, with experience in performance and accompaniment.
- Commitment to student welfare and educational standards.
- Ability to work flexibly within a school environment, including evenings and weekends.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience in teaching or coaching music ensembles.
- Familiarity with academic and administrative tasks in an educational setting.
- Experience with curriculum development or music administration.
- Knowledge of music theory and performance practices.
Compensation & Benefits:
- 10-month fixed-term contract with a salary of £21,304.
- Term-time working with additional weeks as required.
- 37.5 hours per week with flexibility for evening events.
