The Opportunity:

As a Pastoral Assistant, you will support students who need additional help to overcome emotional, social, or pastoral barriers to learning. This role is vital in helping students engage fully with their education and thrive in a supportive school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with pastoral, emotional, and social needs to help them succeed academically.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to provide tailored support.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual support plans.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being regularly.
  • Provide guidance and assistance during key transitions, such as moving between year groups or post-16 options.
  • Promote positive behavior and a supportive school culture.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions to ensure continuous professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with school policies and safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral or welfare role, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Experience in supporting students with emotional or social challenges.

Preferred

  • Experience in a Catholic school or faith-based setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience with pastoral care or counseling techniques.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary range of £25,583 - £26,403 plus £500 per annum First Aid Allowance.
  • Term-time working with 37 hours per week and 5 INSET days.
