The Opportunity:

As a Senior Pastoral Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who require additional help with pastoral, emotional, or social challenges. This position is essential in helping students engage fully with their learning and thrive in a mainstream educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with pastoral, emotional, and social needs to ensure they can participate fully in school life.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, parents, and other professionals to develop and implement individual support plans.
  • Provide guidance and counseling to students in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and well-being, ensuring timely interventions when needed.
  • Assist in organizing and delivering pastoral programs and activities that promote student welfare.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student support and interventions.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development and support strategies.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values the well-being of all students.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant qualifications in education, social work, or a related field.
  • Experience in working with young people, particularly in a pastoral or welfare capacity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred

  • Experience in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and behavior management strategies.
  • Experience with pastoral care programs or support services for students.
