The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Pastoral Teacher to join our team and support students in their academic and personal development. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of young learners within a vibrant, values-driven school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the teacher in maintaining an appropriate learning environment
  • Assist with routine lesson planning and evaluation of lessons
  • Monitor and evaluate pupils’ responses to learning activities
  • Provide objective feedback and reports on pupil achievement
  • Keep and update routine records as agreed with the teacher
  • Undertake marking of pupils’ work and accurately record achievement
  • Promote positive values and good pupil behaviour
  • Liaise with parents and carers as required
  • Administer and assess routine tests and invigilate exams
  • Implement agreed learning activities and teaching programmes
  • Support the use of ICT in learning activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of IEPs and EHCP provision
  • Administer First Aid and maintain First Aid resources
  • Care for pupils who are unwell and liaise with parents
  • Administer medication to pupils as prescribed
  • Undertake triage at playtime and lunchtimes
  • Coordinate the School’s Pastoral Support Programme
  • Support in managing pupil attainment through attendance and behaviour
  • Manage and evaluate the School detention system
  • Supervise students in the absence of a teacher
  • Support with administrative tasks related to trips and extra-curricular activities

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Relevant teaching or support experience, preferably in a primary setting
  • Experience working with children, including those with additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage and support pupils in a pastoral capacity
  • Familiarity with pastoral care and student support systems
  • Commitment to a virtues-led, multi-faith educational environment

Preferred

  • Experience in pastoral support or student welfare
  • Knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • Experience in administering First Aid
  • Experience in developing and implementing care plans
  • Experience in managing and supporting student behaviour
