The Opportunity:

As a Relief Matron, you will provide essential support across boarding houses, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-organised environment for pupils. This role is ideal for a proactive and caring individual who can adapt to different settings and contribute to the smooth running of house life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support House routines and provide pastoral care for pupils
  • Maintain a warm and welcoming environment for students
  • Assist with dispensary duties and housekeeping tasks
  • Cover sickness and holidays with flexible working hours
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of house life during term time
  • Work evenings and weekends as required
  • Collaborate with Senior Resident Matron and Housemistress to ensure consistent standards
  • Promote a positive and supportive atmosphere within the boarding houses

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience in a pastoral or care role, ideally within an educational setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing environments
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • A caring and proactive approach to student support

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a boarding school or similar setting
  • Experience with dispensary or medical support duties
  • Knowledge of child development and pastoral care best practices
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during school holidays
