The Opportunity:

As a Resident Matron (Cloister), you will play a vital role in supporting the pastoral care and daily life of pupils in a dynamic boarding environment. This position ensures a safe, welcoming, and well-organised House, helping pupils thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support pupils in a residential setting
  • Provide care and assistance to unwell pupils as needed
  • Maintain and manage House routines and schedules
  • Administer simple medication in accordance with protocols
  • Oversee laundry, housekeeping, and general maintenance of the House
  • Support and assist with events and activities within the House
  • Ensure a warm, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all pupils
  • Collaborate closely with the Housemistress and Senior Resident Matron

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Experience working in a residential or boarding environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to provide pastoral care and support to young people
  • Experience in administering basic medication
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a school or educational setting
  • Experience with pastoral care and student welfare
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a residential setting
  • Flexibility and willingness to work term-time with additional duties before and after term
  • Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
