Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Biology to students across Key Stages 3 to 5 using the IB curriculum.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that encourage critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
  • Support students in developing strong academic skills and a lifelong curiosity for science.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities within the Alpha Schools Group.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and pastoral support.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes student well-being.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, though not essential.
  • Relevant teaching experience, ideally in Biology at Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology and the ability to inspire student interest in the subject.
  • Commitment to the IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or IB Diploma Programme (DP).
  • Familiarity with the Harkness teaching method.
  • Experience with small class sizes and individualised student support.
  • Flexibility to take on additional subjects for the possibility of a full-time role.
