Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Biology to students across Key Stages 3 to 5 using the IB curriculum.
- Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that encourage critical thinking and scientific inquiry.
- Support students in developing strong academic skills and a lifelong curiosity for science.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
- Participate in professional development opportunities within the Alpha Schools Group.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and pastoral support.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes student well-being.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred, though not essential.
- Relevant teaching experience, ideally in Biology at Key Stages 3 to 5.
- Strong subject knowledge in Biology and the ability to inspire student interest in the subject.
- Commitment to the IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred
- Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or IB Diploma Programme (DP).
- Familiarity with the Harkness teaching method.
- Experience with small class sizes and individualised student support.
- Flexibility to take on additional subjects for the possibility of a full-time role.
